I have been thinking about Charlie Brown and Lucy this morning. You remember the scenario: Lucy holds the football in place and when Charlie Brown is just ready to kick it, Lucy pulls the ball away. Charlie Brown falls flat on his face.
What kind of characters are Lucy and Charlie Brown? Lucy seems to have a mean streak. She certainly doesn’t want Charlie Brown to succeed. In fact, she makes sure he doesn’t.
Charlie Brown keeps falling for the same scheme over and over again.
It’s important to surround yourself with people who bring out your strengths, not your weaknesses. It’s important to have people in your life that will encourage you to take the necessary steps to overcome your weaknesses. People who exploit weakness in others, who take delight in another person’s downfall, they are not the ones to want as friends.
Choose your friends wisely. I have found friendship in people that I didn’t seem to have much in common with at first. Sometimes you find treasure in the most unusual places.
