A ransom is usually a sum of money that is paid for the freeing of a prisoner, hostage or someone who has been abducted.

The ransom paid to set us free from our spiritual prison was not a sum of money. It was far more precious than that. Jesus gave His life. He shed His blood to set us free. There was no greater gift that He could give to the human race.
We need to pause and thank Him for His wonderful, amazing, awesome gift.
1 Peter 1 – 18 For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And the ransom he paid was not mere gold or silver. 19 It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.
